My Japan Travel Bucket List

Japan was an incredible place to visit and if you’ve been thinking about making a trip, I would highly encourage you to go at least once. When I started thinking about traveling to Japan, I was prepared to do a solo trip since I wasn’t sure if my schedule would align with my friends. But it ended up working out better than I expected, and I was able to explore Japan with an amazing group of friends — I couldn’t be more grateful. I am also convinced that this would be the perfect solo trip destination, especially for female travelers who would appreciate how safe Japan is. Just thought I’d mention that as well.

During our 10 days there, we visited Tokyo, Kyoto, and did a day trip to Mount Fuji. Short descriptions for all three places — Tokyo was a major city with a lot of activity, Kyoto was relaxing and showcased many different aspects of Japanese culture, and Mount Fuji was a scenic daytime experience.

One big thing to note is that I traveled Japan as a vegetarian — which I was warned would be tricky! To be honest, this was true but once I got the hang of navigating the food scene, I found it pretty manageable. I’m excited to recommend some gems I found and help others who would like to stick to a plant-based diet while exploring.

Additionally, for any place that needs a reservation by phone, you have the option of asking your hotel to do that for you. This was handy for us since we didn’t speak Japanese!

Alright, let’s get into the highlights. :)
